KARRATHA 7 MILE WASTE FACILITY

The 7 Mile Waste Facility is approximately 10km from Karratha and is located on Exploration Drive, Gap Ridge LIA. The turn-off to the Waste Facility is from Dampier Road and is signposted.

OPERATING HOURS:

7am - 4:30pm every day excluding Christmas Day, New Years Day and Good Friday when the site is closed.

The Shire of Roebourne provides waste disposal services at its 7 Mile facility for residential and commercial clients. These services include:

  • Disposal of general household waste (no fees apply);
  • Disposal of ferrous and non ferrous metals (commercial quantities will incur a fee refer Waste Fees and Charges);
  • Disposal of Biological Liquid Waste (fee applies refer Waste Fees and Charges). A Controlled Waste Tracking Form is required (refer the DER web site);
  • Disposal of Contaminated Waste including Quarantine, Asbestos and Biomedical Clinical Waste (fee applies refer Waste Fees and Charges). Disposal Permit required, refer Contaminated Waste;
  • Disposal of green waste. Commercial clients note fees apply effective 1 July 2011, refer Waste Fees and Charges;
  • Disposal of car bodies, caravans and trailers (fee applies, refer Waste Fees and Charges);
  • Receptacle for waste petroleum oil and cooking oil - maximum of 100 litres (fee applies refer Waste Fees and Charges. Note first 20 litres free of charge for residential customers). Oil must be dropped off in containers no bigger than 20 litres;
  • Disposal of domestic quantities of household paints, chemicals and solvents – maximum of 5 litres per household;
  • Disposal of tyres – residential customers - maximum of 4 domestic car or 4WD tyres per delivery. Commercial customers will incur a fee refer Waste Fees and Charges. Commercial customers must provide a Controlled Waste Tracking Form – refer the DER web site;
  • E waste – fee applies for commercial customers (refer Waste Fees and Charges);
  • Soil – no charge for clean fill. Conditions apply for contaminated soils, refer Contaminated Waste;
  • Disposal of Industrial/Commercial waste including construction and demolish materials (fee applies, refer Waste Fees and Charges);

Commercial clients note: Purchase orders are required if waste disposal charges are to be levied against anyone other than the carrier. Drivers to present a hard copy of the purchase order to the Weighbridge Operator before moving on to the weighbridge.

The Shire of Roebourne will not accept LPG Gas Bottles or any disused high pressure container or vessel at its waste disposal sites. These must be returned to the gas supplier or container owner.

Customers are responsible for unloading their own vehicles.

It is a condition of entry to this facility that all users shall conform to directions issued by Shire staff.

Any goods deposited at this facility is the property of the Shire of Roebourne.

ROEBOURNE/ WICKHAM WASTE TRANSFER STATION

The Roebourne/Wickham Waste Transfer Station is located on the Roebourne-Point Samson Road (on the old Speedway site, opposite the Roebourne Cemetary).

OPERATING HOURS:

7:00am - 4:30pm every day excluding Christmas Day, New Years Day and Good Friday when the site is CLOSED.

The Roebourne/Wickham Transfer Station provides waste disposal services primarily for the residents of Point Samson, Wickham, Cossack and Roebourne. Loads are restricted to a maximum of 2 cubic metres per delivery. The services provided at this facility include:

  • Disposal of general household waste (no fees apply);
  • Disposal of residential ferrous and non ferrous metals (no fees apply);
  • Disposal of residential green waste (no fees apply);
  • Disposal of car bodies, caravans and trailers (fees apply, refer Waste Fees and Charges);
  • Receptacle for waste petroleum oil and cooking oil - maximum of 100 litres (fee applies refer Waste Fees and Charges. Note first 20 litres free of charge for residential customers). Oil must be dropped off in containers no bigger than 20 litres;
  • Disposal of domestic quantities of household paints, chemicals and solvents – maximum of 5 litres per household.

Commercial quantities of any waste material or contaminated wastes (including Asbestos, Clinical and Quarantine, refer Contaminated Waste) must be taken to the Shire of Roebourne 7 Mile Waste Facility located at Karratha.

The Shire of Roebourne encourages separation of recyclable materials delivered to the site and our staff will advise where to place such materials.
